Hooray, my new Green Card arrives!
The Green Card is a residence permit, as several immigration officers have informed me during my 20 years of having one.
“Mr Calder, you are spending too much time outside the United States. You cannot live outside the U.S. and have a Green Card.”
I spend a lot of time in Japan and before that in France, accordingly I am paranoid that my application for a new card will be refused.
The new card is valid until June 2035. Where will I be in 2035? Probably not healthy to think too much about it. For the time being everything is hunky dory.

Probably best to keep an ear open for reports of ICE officials in the area now that The Orange Loon has got his Big, Beautiful Bill semi-passed. He’s keen to withdraw resident permission and finally destroy Medicaid so hopefully you’ll last long enough to get back to Okinawa for treatment!

I was worried that I would be refused this time seeing as I have been out of the country a lot. Trump is worrying! Luckily my Medi Cal healthcare is a State program rather than federal so I don’t think he can get his hands on it easily. I firmly believed that people without health insurance were screwed in the U.S. but not the case in California. Medi Cal is for poor and elderly and I am treated royally for free.
Weather perfect here – warm, sunny, no humidity. Not really looking forward to going back to Okinawa where it is unliveable.

Yes, the weather in Okinawa certainly looks a bit hot and humid at present. I had assumed that’s why you’d chosen these months to be in SF. Better at other times.
Hope California’s Medi-Cal manages to escape the Trump mania. It’s only a local version of Medicaid just like the other states and thus always in danger of losing federal funding, something much bruited by the Trump Collective. Good luck and keep well.
At least it’s down to 18C outside now so much more pleasant and forecast to be no more than 24C over the next few days so work outside can be done.
