So I like Okinawa as it is a backwards gateway to childhood culinary delight. What I mean is that folks here eat a lot of SPAM and Corned Beef without shame. In grey, green, greasy 1950’s Britain where I spent my early years both of these were staples. I loved them. I do not think there is much to beat Fried Spam and Eggs. Then there is Splosh which is a carefully crafted mix of Corned Beef and mashed potatoes whose name derives from Onomatapoeia.
Then there was Westbourne Stew – delicate mix of canned peas, beans, SPAM, meat paste and canned soup – tomate de preference. My Mother would balk when implored to prepare it, claiming high expense as defence.
Now I am so rich I can eat Westbourne Stew every night. I have made it.
I went to a banquet the other night and was served an Okinawan delicacy of scrambled eggs, goya and SPAM.

Chanpuru, yummy.
Bubble & Squeak.
Stoemp in Belgium, also quite onomatopoeic.
Splosh! Happy memories but surely you need HP or Daddy’s Sauce to make it properly? Is that available? You might get away with a good dash of Worcester which ISTR the Japanese are fond of.
Mind you, that Hereford corned beef looks doubtful. If it’s not Fray Bentos then….
If its not frae bentos, i’d usually say leave it alone.
However, with a soft boiled egg, almost any corned beef leaves caviar choking in the gastronomic dust.
